Old Thatch, a delightful Grade 2 listed thatched cottage dating back to the early 16th century is located in the small hamlet of Widewell, overlooking the seaside village of Torcross and Start Bay. Recently totally renovated it retains plenty of period features whilst providing comfortable and attractive accommodation for families looking for something special. A large but cosy sitting room with exposed beams and open fire is a great place to relax and a door opens into a light and airy conservatory overlooking the garden, furnished with a large dining table; a perfect spot for leisurely meals. A large traditional farmhouse kitchen with electric Aga will inspire guests to culinary triumphs and upstairs there are four comfortable bedrooms. From the top of the garden guests can enjoy a panoramic view of Start Bay and a short but steep walk/drive down the hill brings you to Torcross with the popular Start Bay Inn and the beach. Torcross has several cafes and from there it is a pleasant coastal drive to the historic port of Dartmouth. Go the other way to the market town of Kingsbridge and the yacht haven of Salcombe. There are plenty of opportunities for bracing cliff top walks nearby and lots to do in the area with the knowledge that after a hectic day, Old Thatch will welcome you home. Please note that parts of the large garden are terraced and walled with drops. Younger children should be accompanied at all times.
